8/26/2023 0 Comments Sourcetree login window popping up![]() ![]() ![]() On my work laptop I have admin privilege, so I can install/uninstall software as needed, but I simply cannot get this to work. On my home desktop PC (I work a hybrid schedule), I have Sourcetree and was able to do all of the cloning I needed without any issues. One thing to note is that I am only experiencing this on my work laptop. I have tried manually cloning the repo using the git clone command in Windows cmd prompt.When I enter the app password, the same issue persists and the window just keeps popping up over and over. I created an app password to use for logging into the app.Still I am getting the never ending pop up every time I try to clone. I deleted my account in Sourcetree Tools -> Options -> Authentication and re-added it in order to try resetting the authentication.The new password works for logging into my account (for example on the website), but did not help with this issue. I reset my password to make sure I didn't simply forget it.No matter what I do, any time I want to clone a repo, I am presented with this pop-up and it is never satisfied with my response. The window closes, but then pops up again prompting me to log in. I enter the credentials for my account.Upon getting to this screen, a pop-up comes up prompting me to log into my account. Didnt work for me, prompt re-appeared in 2-3 min. I have tried several fixes, including the obvious: Entering auth, prompt re-appeared in 15 sec. This takes me to the normal clone page, where I can see the repo link and choose a folder to clone it into. 11 Atlassian Bitbucket Sourcetree Git Credential Manager keeps prompting me to authenticate.Click on "Clone" for the repository that I want to clone.I am currently logged into my Altassian account and I can see all of the repositories to which I have access. When I enter my credentials, the window closes and a new one opens, again asking me for my password. This actually made it much worse, and I am prompted to login for every team member I'm teamed with.Every time I try to clone my company's online repository, I am prompted with a pop-up window to log into Altassian. Kris's solution also works if you only want to update Git Credential Manager for Windows specifically, though does require config changes. Until Atlassian updates their embedded version, you could install Git for Windows 2.14.0 and within SourceTree, click "Use System Git" in Options. The latest Git Credential Manager for Windows is included in the latest Git for Windows. The latest version (1.12.0) released a couple days ago fixed the remaining issues I had with Bitbucket authentication. The majority of issues in Git Credential Manager for Windows have been fixed in recent versions. After updating SourceTree, go to Tools > Options > Git and click "Update Embedded Git" to get the latest version (at least 2.14.1). (): The embedded Git has now been updated, alongside the release of Sourcetree 2.1.11.0. I've not seen the issue occur for non-Bitbucket accounts. "too many login attempts" error when pushing. Several issues ranging from this repeated login prompt issue to the Logging in with your username is still accepted but seems to cause Must use your email (NOT your username) when logging in.
